“Quality speaks for itself” - With such a company motto it is no surprise that TT360 are enjoying an immaculate reputation and have therefore acquired the vast majority of their clients through word of mouth.
TT360 was founded in 2002 by the two Torrisi brothers, John and Dominic. However, ignoring the fact that they are a relatively young company, TT360 has been doing extremely well and has already successfully secured a number of high profile clients and contracts, such as Enterprise PLC, Wythenshawe Partnership, CallICT a Yorkshire Forward Funded Project managed by Enterprise PLC, PJValves Limited, Million21 Limited, and Technet North West, part of Manchester City Council to name a few.
Their success did not come as a surprise to me when John explained more about TT360’s philosophy:
"We make sure we always go the extra mile for our clients and give them exactly what they want. We won’t rush a product out. Rather the opposite; we will advise and hold our clients’ hands throughout the initial steps, talk through possible solutions and make sure that what the client want is feasible and the right way to go"
Both brothers gave me a very warm welcome when I visited TT360’s offices near Piccadilly train station. Combined, John and Dominic possess a wealth of first class knowledge and hands-on experience within technology environments, including software development, infrastructure, support and the Internet.
This is not the first time the two brothers are working this closely together. They first got a feeling for what it might be like to spend five days a week in the same office, when they both worked for one of the largest new media companies in the UK; Eunite Limited (now part of Zendor, a joint venture between N Brown Group plc and GE Capital Global Consumer Finance) – John as Hosting and IT Manager and Dominic as a Senior Developer. Then they had already worked on a number of large scale web site projects such as Hays Recruitment, e-Commerce and online payment for Pets at Home and United Utilities as well as one of the first streaming media architectures delivering live Premiership audio commentary for Liverpool FC.
While Eunite Limited was a one-stop-shop for new media, the Torrisi brothers have chosen a slightly different approach for their own business. Though the company name ‘TT360’ might suggest an all-round business angle, it is actually originating in and based on John’s enthusiasm for snowboarding. In fact, their company philosophy is exactly the contrary, as John explained:
"A lot of companies are trying to do a bit of everything, but then their knowledge might turn out to be too thinly spread. We try to push our development expertise. And in areas where we’ve lacked specialist skills, we’ve looked for partners; for example through our collaborations with WashingtonRyan, a Design Communications Agency” we used on the Technet project."
"And as a result our clients get the best from a number of companies who are all experts in their field" –added Dominic.
TT360’s main focus is on backend development for web enabled enterprise applications. John explained this further:
"Of course we can do straight forward web sites, but what we are really good at are web enabled applications, such as content management systems, e-learning and trainer management, information gateways and interactive SMS based gaming".
TT360 have been increasingly working on public sector contracts, such as an information service gateway for Technet North West, part of Manchester City Council and CallICT.info, and information gateway aimed at promoting ICT throughout the Yorkshire region. TT360 have also recently been working on the delivery of the new Wythenshawe Partnership Gateway that utilises WebKinetic, a new and exciting fully e-Government compliant content management system written in-house using C# and the latest Microsoft .NET Framework. However, as much as Dominic and John have been enjoying public sector work, both emphasised that they would like to keep the balance between public and private sector work.
TT360 has also been enjoying the recent success of online gaming, having designed a large multi-user arcade system for one of Manchester’s largest online gaming brands. The gaming architecture developed takes advantage of a range of technologies such as SMS, the web, WAP and Flash and is built using a modular design that allows additional games to just plug in. The site predominantly works around mobile phone based reverse billing however, it also supports online payments and credit card transactions. I find it incredible how many people get tempted to guess the value of the next egg a cartoon chicken will lay for their chance to win ‘anything from a rubber chicken to a brand new car!’
Furthermore, TT360 has formed a strategic alliance with Enterprise PLC’s business solution division and has developed an enterprise wide, multi-site and multi-company booking and scheduling tool for learning centres, encompassing online training resources and lending library facilities.
Despite their expertise in a large number of areas, TT360’s main focus will be on a much bigger project: "What we are working towards is to offer ‘Backend Boxed Products’ and we’ve already got a few", explained John. He further elaborated his plans, explaining that they are planning to offer WebKinetic as a highly functional, low cost system, which due to its modular design can easily be expanded using add-on modules.
